What’s Happening in Ventura on Twosday?
Yep, it’s Twosday in Ventura. What is Twosday? Frankly, just a weird bit of happenstance that comes around every 400 years, a perfect 2/22/22 that lands on a Tuesday.
You don’t have to be a math major to see it’s the one chance in your lifetime to celebrate.
So what better time to take a look at some perfect Ventura pairings?
What’s happening in Ventura on Twosday? Well, that’s up to you;
Let’s get to it, because Twosday’s a’wastin’. And yes, your next shot will be 2422.
A Ventura Pier walk and a sunset.
Why not add in a beer (or two) at the MadeWest taproom on the pier. Yep, that’s three things, but so what? You’re the only one counting.
Take a boat ride and see dolphins.
Nothing makes your heart leap like, well, leaping dolphins. When Island Packers sets out to sea, your odds of dolphin sightings are not guaranteed — but they are often good. Sometimes very, very good. In certain seasons it’s not uncommon to spot hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dolphins. But the magic isn’t about numbers.
Two tacos
Where can you get two delicious tacos in Ventura? Pretty much anywhere. But Beach House Tacos, The Blue Agave, Limon y Sal, La Parrilla Yucatan, and Taqueria Ventura Doña Raquel would be as good a choice as any.
Save money at Spencer Makenzie’s 2 for 1 Fish Tacos happy hour.
Yep, Spencer Makenzie’s offers their two for the price of one fish tacos happy hour every Monday through Thursday from 3 pm to 5 pm – your choice of either grilled or tempura fish topped with chopped cabbage, cilantro, bell peppers, and their Spencer Sauce spread delectably upon a flour tortilla. You’re at work from 3 to 5? Tell the boss it’s Twosday.
Hot pizza and an ice cold beer
Okay, life isn’t all about food – but maybe it should be. How about a large Hot Honey pizza – creamy garlic sauce, salami, red onion, jalapeños, and bacon pieces topped with a honey drizzle – from Topper’s Pizza, paired with, well, any beer from Transmission Brewing right next door.
A bike ride and the beach
No better place to ride a bike than along Ventura’s beachfront promenade. Don’t have a bike? Fine. Just rent one from Wheel Fun Rentals right at the foot of the historical Ventura Pier.
A hike/run/bike and a think
Ventura’s Harmon Canyon Preserve is a hiking/running/mountain biking nirvana. Hike/run/bike to the top of any summit and gaze out over a sweeping 360-degree panorama of agricultural fields, inland mountains, and Pacific Ocean islands. Take a very long moment to do the important things, like watch sheep clouds scud to the horizon.
Surf and turf
Ride some waves and then enjoy a picnic with someone special at any of Ventura’s parks. Arroyo Verde Park, with its great sprawl of green, would be a fine choice.
Bird and beach
McGrath State Beach offers some of California’s best bird-watching; with the lush riverbanks of the Santa Clara River and protected sand dunes side by side. Walk just a mile south of the Surfer’s Knoll parking lot and experience a rarity on Southern California beaches. Solitude. The Ventura Harbor Ecological Reserve (just a short distance from Surfer’s Knoll on Angler Court) is a lovely birding haven.
