3 Itineraries for Valentine’s Day in Ventura

Spontaneous beach sunsets, mouth-watering fish tacos, and balance-testing kayaks: this is the perfect Valentine’s Day in Ventura. Or at least one of them. Whether you’re seeking a budget-friendly outing, a casual adventure, or a more lavish experience, Ventura has something for every couple. That special day is fast approaching so dive into 3 itineraries for Valentine’s Day in Ventura.

1. Budget-Friendly Date in Ventura

Sometimes the best things in life are free and that’s true (and possible) even on Valentine’s Day. Because in the end, it’s the thought that counts and the memories made. Lucky for you, there are plenty of ways to have a special Valentine’s Day in Ventura without breaking the bank.

Activity Recommendations for Valentine’s Day in Ventura:

Couple at Grant Park

Enjoy Ventura’s natural beauty for free: walk along San Buenaventura State Beach and make it a beach day. Stroll hand in hand with your loved one and keep your eyes open for beach treasures: colorful sea glass and unique sea shells. Or tap into your inner child while building sandcastles and jumping into the waves without hesitation.

Walk to Grant Park: Embark on a scenic hike to Grant Park, offering panoramic views of Ventura and the Pacific Ocean. The walk is accessible and suitable for all skill levels, making it an ideal option for a budget-friendly outdoor adventure. Pack a picnic and enjoy a romantic lunch with stunning views as your backdrop. Nearby is the Ventura Botanical Gardens, another great option for a beautiful nature walk. Admission is $7, but Wednesdays and Fridays are free!

Starlit Movie Night: Grab a blanket and head out under the stars. Whether you make a little oasis on the beach or at a local park to watch a movie on your laptop or attend one of Portside Harbor’s free Movie Night Under the Stars events (check out our events page to see the upcoming schedule), there’s really nothing more romantic than enjoying a movie with your loved one.

Budget-Friendly Restaurant Recommendation:

Tacos from Johnny's Mexican Food

Head over to the Ventura Taco District for a slew of delicious and authentic taquerías and restaurants, many of which have been family-owned and operated for decades. Johnny’s Mexican Food is Ventura’s oldest taco spot and has great deals for their icon hard shell beef taco. Or head up the Avenue to Maggie’s where you can find juicy asada tacos and take them to the beach.
