Ventura Community Celebrates the X Games: special beer release

Visit Ventura is excited to introduce to you, in collaboration with 8 local breweries, “Ventura Community Celebrates the X Games: special beer release”. Our local breweries designed new artwork to celebrate skateboarding, BMX, and MotoX. They’ve been working on their special release beer since April– to say a lot of love, creativity, and hard work went into the entire process is an understatement! Each brew ties in the spirit of the X Games with Ventura flair.

Because in Ventura, we’re proud of what’s Made In Ventura. Cheers!🍻

Handplant IPA at BellRinger Brew Co

This punchy, citrusy, IPA is perfect after a fun-filled day! The name of the beer is a play on words— both a killer skateboarding trick when a skater grabs the coping at the top of a ramp while their other hand holds their skateboard and the feeling of a cold pint of beer in your hands. As the newest brewery in town located in the oldest brewery building, owners Emily and Dan White are building on the legacy of craft beer in Ventura. They were excited to create a beer perfect for the X Games and mesh X Games and BellRinger’s spirit in this brew. Handplant is available now in cans and on draft at BellRinger Brew Co.

Rodeo RIPA at Rincon Brewery

When owners Luisa and Mark Hyatt heard the X Games were coming to town and they could create a special release beer to celebrate one of the biggest events coming to town, they jumped on the chance. And so, Rodeo RIPA was born.

This Red Ale is well balanced with caramel malt and lots of hops for a smooth and dry taste. The can art is inspired by 1990s skateboard and surf graphics and the nostalgia of watching early X Games on TV.

And a special surprise, Rodeo RIPA is one of two beers from this specialty beer release that is being sold on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner! To know our Ventura local craft beer is riding the rails is amazing!

Trè Flip at MadeWest Brewing Company

It’s time to shred in the sunshine with Trè Flip, a special-release beer by MadeWest Brewing. This West Coast Extra Pale Ale delivers bright citrus and ripe tropical fruit with notes of passion fruit and papaya, perfect for sipping in the summer! Can we talk about the can art for a second? The cutest little ghost doing a trè flip (otherwise known as a 360 flip) on your can of beer? You have to check it out for yourself at MadeWest!

Summer Shredding at Ventura Coast Brewing Company

Who doesn’t love a cold beer that’s light and refreshing? VCBC’s Summer Shredding is a light lager that’s crisp and crushable; a truly perfect way to finish off a day at the beach or watching the X Games. The beer art pays homage to all three of the disciplines at the finals weekend: BMX, Motocross, and skateboarding. A comic art style, Summer Shredding is amazing to drink and to look at.

And a happy surprise, this beer is available on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner! It is also available at Ventura Coast Brewing in cans and on draft. It is limited for the month of July so get it now before it’s gone!

Boneless at Leashless Brewing

Roll into the X Games spirit with Leashless Brewing’s Boneless West Coast IPA. This beer is inspired by the role skateboarding has played in the evolution of surfing.

This west coast IPA is light-bodied with hints of papaya, vanilla, and pine. The can art by Chris Long is inspired by the old-school skating graphics and the beer’s bold flavor. Get this delicious brew now before it’s gone!

Tail Whip at Poseidon Brewing Co.

Whip into the X-treme spirit with “Tailwhip Pale Ale”, a specialty beer by @poseidonbrewingco. This pale ale is inspired by California sunshine and made with lotus hops from @hopsteiner for a delicious taste perfect for summer. 🌞

Label art by @blindtigerdesign combines Poseidon’s nautical influence and an ode to extreme sports by showcasing a deep sea diver doing a tailwhip on a dirt bike.

This beer is available NOW for a limited time in cans and on draft.

Kiwi Flip at Bright Spark Brewing

Please welcome to the beer lineup Kiwi Flip at Bright Spark Brewing. FYI it’s also their first beer can, made especially for the X Games!

This double IPA is made with New Zealand Hops and has a peachy stone fruit flavor, perfect for the heat wave! The recipe for this brew was written by lead brewer Mike Opalek who competed in the first X Games in 1995! Co-owner Linzy Mahoney designed the label with a wallpaper style, including the flipping skateboard, California palm tree, and the waves to represent Ventura surfing! Get it before it’s gone!

Beer Can-Can at Transmission Brewing

Owner Casey Jonker is a rider himself — he frequents the Ventura Raceway on the weekends. Creating a beer inspired by the X Games was a no-brainer for Transmission Brewing.

This beer is made with Comet and Columbus hops and has notes tropical fruits along with piney notes. The name and label are inspired by the jaw-dropping “Can-Can” BMX trick and Transmission’s own Bultaco Bike that you can find hanging in their taproom.
