It’s Takeout Tuesday. Celebrate Ventura’s Desserts (you’re welcome)
By Visit Ventura
No two words strike more joy in a sweet-toothed heart (or maybe any heart).
A wise sage once (rightly) said. “A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.”
Off and on, for many Tuesdays now, we’ve been focusing on a particular facet of Ventura’s myriad tasty eating options. And, lucky you, this week we turn our taste buds to dessert. Whatever we’re spotlighting on Takeout Tuesday, it’s the same idea. Here’s a way for us to continue to support our local businesses — our friends and neighbors — and, happy coincidence, do something nice for ourselves. Because we deserve it, don’t we?
Sweet things in Ventura? From Coastal Cone to Top this Chocolate at Ventura Harbor Village, to La Frutileta Michoacana on the Avenue, to Ex Voto Chocolates and Confections (don’t ignore their ice cream, either), to Cafe Ficelle, Royal Bakery, and Sticky Fingers Baking Company in midtown, to the best little donut stand you may have never heard of (Russell’s Donuts on Ventura Avenue) … Yep, there are some lovely-sweet secrets wafting around Ventura.
And, of course, there are the tucked away sweets. Lure Fish House’s key lime pie. Tiny Brio Cafe’s chocolate and lemon cheesecakes. Paradise Pantry’s salted carmel bread pudding and butterscotch pot de creme. Close your eyes and take a long moment to roll Rice by Mama’s mango sticky rice around on your tongue. The true dessert lover does not confine sweets to the end of the menu.
So many, well, sweet secrets wafting around Ventura. Maybe you have a few of your own.
So on Takeout Tuesday (or any day that works, because we are talking dessert) do something sweet — for yourself and our local businesses. And, if you like, share a photo of your delectable choice and tag us @visitventura.
