How important is it for you to represent Ventura?

I love this place… It made me comfortable with who I am. I think about growing up somewhere else, I feel like I would be an entirely different person… There’s something about this place that gave me so much encouragement, and so much love, and so much room, and this nonjudgmental floor space to grow into the person that I am.

What do you miss the most about Ventura?

I miss the pace of life… That’s what I miss most. Living life here is so much of a different experience than it is living anywhere else. So much slower. And so much more relaxed.

Where is the first place you go to when you’re here?

Corrales (Mexican Food)…Can’t come to Ventura without getting a Corrales burrito.

Where is your favorite place to spend time with the family?

We spend a lot of time at the beach… We’re always at Marina Park. It has that big boat and the swings.

Where is your favorite place to watch the sunset?

On the beach, for sure. If you go to Pierpont, where the volleyball courts are by the park? Sitting right there, just looking out at the water is my favorite place to watch the sunset.

Favorite Fish Taco?

Favorite place to get a fish taco is obviously Spencer Makenzies… they’ve got the parmesan shell tacos. Unbeatable. How had we not thought about that already?
