How to add Ventura to an LA business trip

Only an hour and a half north of downtown Los Angeles, Ventura is the perfect getaway to unwind from your business trip. Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner will take you from Union Station or Burbank Airport among other stops, straight to Ventura -a block from the beach and a block from downtown. The atmosphere of Ventura feels almost orchestrated to keep you relaxed. Start your day off at the beach. San Buenaventura State Beach is the perfect stop, whether you are into swimming, walking along the beach, surfing or even watching the waves. There’s something so therapeutic about the beach, the sound of the crashing waves, the ocean breeze and the feel of sand between your toes. You are also welcome to enjoy a delicious meal on the Ventura Pier at Beach House Fish. They have the most delectable fish tacos that you can enjoy while watching the waves on the pier. The Ventura Pier was constructed in 1872 and has since been a favorite fishing spot for fishermen. Mackerel, croakers, stingrays, jacksmelt, perch, sand sharks as well as crustaceans can be caught while fishing at the pier. Take some time to clear your mind and catch a big one. Fishing without a permit is allowed at designated areas on the pier and people are encouraged to properly dispose of their tangled fishing line to avoid birds and fish from becoming trapped in them. Ventura has a great number of breweries that offer a laid-back atmosphere and friendly service. Topa Topa Brewing Company is one of my favorites because it is inspired by all things Ventura; good vibes, surfing, exploring and of course good beer. They have 16 taps of rotating handcrafted beers and every once in awhile they host special events. Stop by and enjoy a beer with friends. If you are more interested in wine, Four Brix Winery produces wines from their favorite grape growing regions; Italy, Spain France and California. The word “brix” is the term used to measure the sugar in grapes, Four Brix finds the perfect measurement to bring you the most exquisite wines. The tasting room has a relaxing ambiance and great food to go with your wine. So add a dose of fun to your next LA business trip and enjoy an original SoCal beach town.
