Ventura Offers Many Tasty, Affordable Outdoor Dining Options

by Visit Ventura

With all due humility and honesty, Ventura was born for outdoor dining. A meteorologist somewhere once did some figuring and decided Ventura has 273 sunny days a year. Add to that cool seaside temperatures and a jaunty outdoor umbrella or three and you have the charm of European dining without the plane trip or the price tag. Oh, right. And you can dine outside as easily in January as July. Ventura Offers Many Tasty, Affordable Outdoor Dining Options On a very serious note, we all know these are difficult times for everyone, including Ventura’s restaurants. With Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent mandate reinstating the ban on indoor dining, our Ventura restaurants are still allowed to offer outdoor dining — and they are doing so in innovative fashion. From Main Street Moves (restaurants setting up, literally, in the street along downtown Main Street; open now only to pedestrian traffic), to Ventura Harbor’s Seaside Takeout Zone (picnic tables set up on the Harbor Village Main Lawn), to pop up tents outside of Danny’s Deli, The Cave, Bombay Bar & Grill and Barrelhouse 101 (and dozens more), our restaurants have responded heroically.

And so we ask you, kind Venturans, to do the same. In early spring, Visit Ventura started “Takeout Tuesdays.” The premise was simple (and not really limited to Tuesdays, because any day is a kind day to help our local restaurants). Support local by getting takeout from your favorite Ventura restaurant. And, if you wanted to go a step further, share your takeout photos and tag us @visitventura. Smiling restaurant owners. Tasty meals. And yep, all of it while keeping our proper distance. And please wear a mask whenever possible. Wearing is caring, and we need to look out for each other. Ventura has so many great restaurants: so many of them owned by our neighbors and friends. They can use your help. And helping, well that’s what Venturans do. So many tasty options.
