Cycling trails to explore Ventura on two wheels

Are you a savvy cyclist looking for the best paths around Ventura? Look no further. Anyone who has been longing to go for a cycling holiday will quench their thirst here. Beautiful Ventura, California offers terrific trails for bicycle riders in the region. Cycle California Coast offers a variety of accessible bike paths with the most spectacular scenery. Here are a few you might enjoy.

1. The Pacific Coast trail

This class one bike path rolls along California’s renowned Pacific Coast Highway, with magnificent coastal views. You’ll pass stunning beaches like Faria Beach and Rincon, one of the best surf spots in the world. The path takes you north from Ventura to Carpinteria, about 15 miles of lifetime views.

2. The Ojai Valley bike trail

This trail begins in Ventura and heads inland, following old train tracks that parallel Highway 33. You’ll pass beside fields and small towns (Casitas Springs), and through lovely foliaged corridors. It’s slightly uphill most of the way. Eventually you’ll find yourself in Ojai, a beautiful town with more bike-friendly paths, cafes and shops, allowing for a well-deserved respite. Should you decide to head back by bike, happy news, it’s largely downhill.

3. The Oxnard bike trail

This popular trail has no real official beginning, but starting at San Buenaventura State Beach is a good idea because that allows you to ride through the beachy neighborhoods of Pierpont before making your way on to Harbor Blvd. The trail (officially) ends at Oxnard Beach Park, but you can keep riding if you like — and we recommend it — heading down to Channel Islands Harbor. The ride from San Buenaventura State Beach to Oxnard Beach Park and back is about 14 miles round trip.
