Bright Spark Brewing
Located in Eastside Ventura
What’s Nearby? Cruise down Telephone Road and head to the Ventura Harbor Village where you can spend time out on the water on fun swan and dragon peddle boats, wander through nautical boutique shops, and enjoy fresh seafood at harborside restaurants.
When a chemical engineer and a food magazine publisher/owner get together, magic happens. Bright Spark Brewing, owned by Tim Harbage and Linzy Mahoney, is located on the east side of Ventura, serving 12 different styles of craft beer made in-house–from modern IPAs to crisp lagers. One of the few breweries in town with a full-scale restaurant, try one of their crowd favorites: potato dukkah pizza, hot honey pepperoni pizza, fried chicken sandwich, or one of their fresh, hearty salads. Vegans and those with Gluten Sensitivities, rejoice! Bright Spark has you covered as well. Bring your whole family for lunch and play some family-friendly games like foosball and table shuffleboard. BellRinger Brewing
Located in Downtown Ventura

BellRinger stepped into the shoes of a large legacy but has made a name for itself in the beer community and the local Ventura community at large. Owners Dan and Emily White envisioned a brewpub space, with a specialization in German lagers and West Coast India pale ales. You can munch on the BellRinger Double Smash Burger or a plate of chicken tacos after work with friends and family (there’s even a kid’s menu with mac n’ cheese, hot dogs, and other yummy items). As the only Ventura local craft brewery right on Main Street, BellRinger Brewing offers cozy retro vibes with a killer outdoor patio where you can hang out and people-watch. Plus, join The Ringer Regulars Club— exclusive growler fills on specific beers every Friday, $1 off every beer, and 10% off food all day on Mondays among other perks.

Leashless Brewing

Just steps from the ocean, Leashless Brewing is the only certified organic brewery in town with a dedicated mission to better the environment. Leashless sources all their ingredients from organic farms and then gives their brewery waste to local farmers to use in their fields or feed their livestock. Rooted deeply in the local Ventura community, you’ll find Leashless partnering with local organizations like the Surfrider Foundation, MERITO Foundation, and Ventura Land Trust. They remain committed to promoting local live music and have served as a launching pad for up-and-coming live music throughout Ventura County. Offering everything from juicy IPAs to Belgian beers to fruity hard seltzers, you’ll be able to find something that fits your mood. Choose from over 13 beers on tap (five are gluten-free or gluten-reduced) or pick up beers to go. MadeWest Brewing Co.

Rent a surrey bike and cruise along the coast for the ultimate beach day. Walk a few blocks to Downtown Ventura for shopping and more restaurants. Wanna try some award-winning beer right on the beach? Then you’ve come to the right place. MadeWest Brewing Co., founded by Ventura natives Seth Gibson and Mike Morrison, is home to a lot of local pride. Have a sip of their MadeWest Pale and you’ll soon realize why they won gold at the 2023 World Beer Cup in Nashville. But choose from any of their beer on tap (over 10) because they’re all winners. Hang out at their iconic taproom on the Ventura Pier with views of the Pacific Ocean or spread out at their East Ventura taproom location where you can grab a bite to eat at one of their food trucks and enjoy live music all week long.

A true local dive, Poseidon Brewing Co. is known for its down-to-earth (or should we say down-to-ocean?) but high-quality beer and an equally free-flowing taproom that’s a perfect fit for those looking to hang out and have a fun time. Co-owners Brian (who is a former Navy-trained underwater construction diver) and Vinita set out to brew craft beer that follows their motto “ale with depth”. Try their best-selling Grapefruit IPA on tap or choose from over a dozen beers to go. With a massive taproom, you can bring your friends, family, and your dogs to spend the afternoon or evening laughing over a good pint. Enjoy trivia and delicious bites from a rotating selection of food trucks at Poseidon.

Rincon Brewery

Named after our world-famous beach with some of the best waves on the West Coast, Rincon encompasses what it means to be a California brewery. Rincon’s Ventura location opened in 2018 and fit right in with the craft beer scene with its light-bodied lagers, West Coast IPAs, hazies, and one-off specials of other unique craft beers. With over two dozen beers on tap, you’ll find something that fits your mood. Plus, pair one of the beers with an item on their extensive menu with locally sourced ingredients. Rincon is a Surfrider-certified Ocean Friendly Restaurant; all of their meat is hormone and antibiotic-free, they serve sustainable fish, their salad greens are always organic and they also offer vegetarian and vegan options. Enjoy a side of onion rings to go along with the RB burger or try their loaded nachos for lunch. There’s plenty of space to spread out with your crew indoors or on their beautiful outdoor patio. Catch a sports game or just hang out for the vibes at Rincon Brewery—you’ll become part of the RB family in no time.

Seaward Brewing

Seaward Brewing draws its inspiration from Ventura’s love for the ocean. Drawn to the sea, Seaward Brewing specializes in fresh high quality beer for the local community. Inside, it’s all about playtime— you’ll find vintage 80s video games lining the walls and cornhole outside on the patio. With plenty of local events from swing dancing and trivia to live music, Seaward is for the young at heart. Topa Topa Brewing Company

In a small but mighty tasting room (which was a former Patagonia warehouse), you can gaze to the west towards the ocean or to the east towards the looming Topa Topa mountains from which this local brewery gets its name. Opened in 2015, Topa Topa began as a local Ventura brewery but quickly expanded with 5 taprooms in the region, and is a well-known name in the beer scene both within the region and out. Due to demand, Topa Topa also expanded to a second tasting room and production facility on the Eastside of Ventura with retro video games ready to play and a massive beer garden outside to bring your family and dogs. With so many beers on tap, it’s hard to choose which one to pick but give their Chief Peak IPA and Dos Topa Lager a try.
Walk down to the beach from their Downtown Ventura location or enjoy a bite from their rotating food trucks and their walk-up outdoor bar at the Colt Street location — you can’t go wrong either way. Plus join their Collective Membership and get perks!

Transmission Brewing

Old auto-mechanic shop turned local Ventura craft brewery. Walk in and look up — a dirt bike suspended over the bar. Order a beer and be amazed. Transmission Brewery’s philosophy to “shift perception” perfectly encapsulates their easy-drinking brews and casual, approachable taproom. Pick from over a dozen beers on tap and a handful of seltzers and you won’t be disappointed. Give their Transmission Light, a rice lager that won a World Beer Cup bronze, or their refreshing Blood Orange Mule a try. And don’t forget to head over to Topper’s Pizza (one of Ventura’s favorite pizza joints) which’s connected to Transmission for a great pizza-beer pairing.
Transmission’s Brew Deck sets it apart from any other brewery in town. Go upstairs and hang out in the adults-only deck and enjoy a killer view of the ocean. Beer, pizza, and the sunset? Who could ask for more? Only open evenings Monday–Thursday; afternoon and evenings Friday–Sunday.
Ventura Coast Brewing Company
