Ventura Earth Day Festival
The event will kick off by a Chumash blessing followed by opening remarks by our City of Ventura Mayor, Mr. Joe Schroeder. Then, a series of live performances by Inlakech Art Center’s Mariachi Band & Ballet Folkrórico; local singer and writer Olivia Willhite’s Ukulele Surf Pop; Jazz by Cabrillo Middle School & Ventura High School Jazz Band Combo, with ending performance by ‘Stranger’, an awesome local Youth Rock Band.
Other highlights include a showcase of over 25 Electric Vehicles (EV) organized by EV Advocates of Ventura County that will feature EV dealers, EVs used in commerce and by municipal organizations, along with many privately owned vehicles; Patagonia's Child Development Center will lead the Kid’s Zone activities, and Bike Valet Parking will be available courtesy of the host. Halfway through the event, Dr. Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios, City of Ventura Deputy Major will address attendees to inspire all to protect natural resources, and MCs will reveal the names of the Earthly costume contest and trivia who will win prizes.
But the centerpiece of the event are the more than 20 environmental governmental and non-governmental organizations who will share information and opportunities with the community, such as events, rebates, programs, and supplies that benefit the planet, regional economies, and human health. They are too many to list, but they are some of the most committed and recognized in the region, and nationally. We highly encourage all attendees come hungry because there will be a diverse, healthy and delicious array of food to choose from that include Happy Place Eatery, Pizzaman Dans, Passion Empanadas, Channel Islands Juice Co., and Jimbo’s Funnel Cakes, and please consider carpooling, using public transportation, or biking to Park Plaza on April 20th. A public parking lot is ½ block from Park Plaza on Santa Clara St.
