February Public Chapter Meeting

Join Surfrider Tuesday, February 1st from 6:30-8pm for updates on all things Surfrider. This includes new volunteer opportunities, upcoming events, and more at 6:30pm. All are welcomed and encouraged to join, even if you’ve never volunteered with us before! We will also be joined by our incredible guest speaker and Ventura County local, Dr. Anna Cho.
Dr. Cho, Co-founder of Hydro Theory, Inc. & Director of Outreach & Clinical Services, was born in Los Angeles and raised bi-culturally in the United States and South Korea throughout her childhood through her adolescent years. She brings an integrative lens to the fields of Creativity, Psychology, and understanding behavioral responses. Currently Dr. Cho works with children, young adults, couples and families at her private practice Heart Theory Inc. and has recently started taking private clients out to the ocean for surf therapy through Hydro Theory.
Anna is an avid surfer, sailor-in-training, and black belt Taekwondo martial artist. She is an expert learner, challenging mentor, and loves to give free advice in the water, whether it be surf or life tips.

“During the Pandemic many changed their courses in life. As my clinical goals have not changed, I found myself running to the ocean at dawn to heal and pray for those in need. There is no replacement for the peace and enveloped warmth in the healing experience of the ocean. There is a great calling to allow others heal and to give back the stoked feelings to generate greater waves to pulse the camaraderie, confidence, and courage. The At-Promise population continues to be limited in resources and accessibility to things we enjoy every day. The goal is to provide as much access to the ocean for everyone, and support existing platforms with mental health awareness training.
