If you’re anything like us, you have a profound appreciation for dogs. That being said, it may be hard for you to leave your four-legged friend home when you’re out exploring. If you were wondering, Ventura is an extremely dog-friendly city where you can experience the beach, as well as various restaurants, alongside your precious pet.
Paws and relax at the beach or at the park. Spend the dog days of summer at Surfer’s Point, Marina Park, or Harbor Cove. Many Ventura beaches and parks invite dogs to join in on the seaside scenery. You can walk your dog all over the beach and even the pier. Just make sure to leash and clean up after your loved one, and you’re good to go!
Lose the leash at the dog park. Camino Real Park has everything your dog needs to get an off-leash workout in. Find dog-sized water fountains, doggy bags, and other dogs of all sizes in this enclosed area. Arroyo Verde Park also has off-leash hours every day from 6:00-9:00 AM. Throw the ball or just let your dog go for it while you relax on a bench. Drop by the park anytime between dawn and dusk. Your dog will thank you!
Puppies can chow, too. Looking to fetch some lunch with your dog in tow? Many restaurants downtown and at Ventura Harbor Village welcome collared companions. But that’s not all–The Parlor and Barrelhouse 101 even have a small selection of meals just for mutts. That’s right–they have legitimate dog menus. Does it get any better?
Don’t worry, you won’t need a doghouse tonight. There are pet-friendly hotels all around Ventura. Crowne Plaza, Ventura Beach Marriott, and Four Points by Sheraton all understand what it means to include your pet in your Ventura adventure.
Don’t forget! Your lucky dog is also welcome at Ventura Visitors Center. Believe it or not, we have a jar chock full of dog treats with which we are happy to spoil your pup. So next time you take on Ventura, bring your best furry friend along.
We doggie dare you.
