The Ventura beach was as it usually is on Friday afternoons — until geometric designs and organic shapes began appearing in the sand. Using the wet sand as their canvas, about 20 people created an intricate wavelike pattern on the beach, led by Andres Amador. The San Francisco artist, known worldwide for his sand murals created with a single rake, is in Ventura for the weekend to teach local residents his technique and to produce a large-scale piece. “The most important thing is that it all feels connected,” Amador told participants in a workshop Friday as they sat in a circle on the sand. “Life is not perfect, and that’s actually way more interesting.” More>>
