A Partnership for Sustainability: Visit Ventura Partners with Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, X Games, Ventura County Coast to Provide Easy and Convenient Transportation to X Games California 2023 Finals Weekend

For immediate release: June 26, 2023 (Ventura, Calif.) — Debut of Pacific Surfliner Train Wrap to Feature X Games Athletes, Special Promotions, and Local Ventura Special Release X Games-Inspired Brews On Board Train

Visit Ventura announced today that a long-term relationship with the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency (who manages the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner) has culminated in an unprecedented partnership with Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, X Games, and Ventura County Coast. The partnership will provide X Games ticket holders sustainable and convenient transportation to and from X Games California 2023 finals weekend at the Ventura County Fairgrounds July 21-23.

Visit Ventura and the LOSSAN Agency have worked together for years to bring travelers to Ventura from across Southern California.

Ventura is highlighted to Pacific Surfliner customers and potential travelers as a laid-back, walkable beach town that is perfect for day trips and longer getaways. By driving visitation, the partnership helps to boost Ventura’s economy, including the small businesses who are the heart of Ventura and keeping the community’s coastal charm alive. Visit Ventura also communicates messaging on pet travel (up to 20 pounds) on the train to Ventura’s dog-friendly beach community.

“As a beach town, taking care of our beaches and green spaces is incredibly important to us,” said Marlyss Auster, President and CEO of Visit Ventura. “Partnering with LOSSAN to encourage train travel to Ventura is key and we’re proud to say promoting sustainable travel to our home has always been at the forefront of our messaging.”

A total of 10 Pacific Surfliner trips operate to Ventura daily serving residents from Orange County, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo (among others). An additional return trip will be added July 21-23 to provide customers a late-night departure option from Ventura back to Los Angeles so fans can enjoy X Games fun all day.

Train travel is 46% more efficient than car travel and with approximately 500 seats on board each Pacific Surfliner train, there is a potential to carry more than 16,000 passengers to and from the event over the three-day period.

X Games ticket holders can also receive 15% off of their train fare if they are traveling to Ventura on the Pacific Surfliner for the finals weekend.

The partnership marks the first-ever brand partnership for a Pacific Surfliner train wrap. Fully covering two train cars, the creative features seven athletes: Sky Brown, Rayssa Leal, Nyjah Huston, Kevin Peraza, Jackson Strong, Jamie Foy, and Garrett Reynolds. Developed in partnership with Visit Ventura, Ventura County Coast, and the X Games, the design celebrates the dreamy, laid-back vibes of Southern California’s coastal communities.

The train wrap is visible on the Pacific Surfliner now and is expected to remain in service through the end of the year.

“Our partnership with Visit Ventura is an example of how impactful collaborations can be,” said Jason Jewell, Managing Director of the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency. “Ventura, a cherished local destination, is a favored stop for Pacific Surfliner passengers and we are excited to be adding an additional late-night train departure exclusively for the X Games. Moreover, I’m thrilled that this alliance has resulted in the Pacific Surfliner’s first train wrap featuring a brand partner. We look forward to a continued partnership with them.”

Visit Ventura also led a collaboration effort between the LOSSAN Agency and two local Ventura breweries to carry special release X Games-inspired brews on board in the train’s Market Café. Train passengers can purchase Ventura Coast Brewing Company’s (VCBC) “Summer Shredding” and Rincon Brewery’s “Rodeo RIPA” onboard.

The two beers are part of Visit Ventura’s special beer release collaboration project with eight breweries (Bright Spark Brewing, Rincon Brewery, MadeWest Brewing Company, Transmission Brewing, BellRinger Brew Co, Leashless Brewing, Poseidon Brewing Co., and Ventura Coast Brewing Company) to celebrate the X Games coming to Ventura this summer.

“It’s an incredible opportunity for Rodeo RIPA to ride the rails representing Ventura’s local breweries,” said Luisa Hyatt, co-owner of Rincon Brewery. “We knew we wanted to represent all three X Games disciplines and I think our label does a good job doing that. It was amazing to be involved with the promotional footage of the beer and to include local youth who are excited about the X Games coming. It’s all been about embracing the X Games coming to Ventura.”

Public rollout of “Ventura Community Celebrates X Games: special beer release” is scheduled for July 6.
