Threading Together, Weaving our indigenous heritage – Tejiendo Juntos: Entrelazando Nuestra Herencia Indígena

Experience the artistry of Zapotec weaving firsthand in a dynamic showcase and demonstration presented in collaboration with MICOP.

The artist in charge of these weaving workshops is Eduardo Jiménez. Jiménez is from Teotitlán del Valle, a town of 5,000 inhabitants, twenty miles from the city of Oaxaca, famous for its ancestral weavings. Jiménez’s style of weaving is extremely popular in Teotitlán del Valle and is one that uses the pedal loom, which was incorporated by the Spanish kingdom during the conquest of the Americas to speed up its process.

*Experimenta el arte del tejido zapoteco demostrado a través de las manos de un creador oaxaqueño. Este evento será presentado en colaboración con la organización no lucrativa MICOP. La entrada será gratis si te registras al evento.

El artista encargado de estos talleres de tejido es Eduardo Jiménez. Jiménez es de Teotitlán del Valle, un pueblo de 5.000 habitantes, a treinta kilómetros de la ciudad de Oaxaca, famoso por sus tejidos ancestrales. El estilo de tejer de Jiménez es muy popular en Teotitlán del Valle y en él se utiliza el telar de pedal, que fue incorporado por el reino español durante la conquista de América para agilizar su proceso.
