Fair Practice
Dama Gallery presents Fair Practice, a multidisciplinary exhibition in Ventura. Featuring eight artists working across painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, the exhibition examines the role of color as both medium and message—at once technical, conceptual, and deeply human.
Color is among the most immediate and universal languages of visual culture, yet its applications in contemporary practice reveal a vast complexity. Fair Practice brings together works that push beyond surface aesthetics, foregrounding the precision, discipline, and intentionality that underlie chromatic experimentation. Through bold contrasts, layered transparencies, and restrained tonalities, the featured artists transform color into a vehicle for perception, sensation, and meaning.
The exhibition underscores color’s dual function: it is simultaneously material and metaphor, a tool of construction and a means of disruption. Whether deployed as a structural framework, a psychological trigger, or an agent of abstraction, color here operates as a system of inquiry, an entry point into larger questions of narrative, emotion, and cultural resonance.
Fair Practice situates color not as embellishment but as practice: a rigorous exploration of process, technique, and vision that shapes how art is made, experienced, and remembered.
