The Sea Hunters

The Sea Hunters are a Ventura based group playing instrumental surf music, pop and rock since 2006. The current lineup has been playing together since 2020.

Doug Paulin plays guitar, bass and background vocals. He was formerly in the instrumental surf band Point Doom and performed as a solo act under the name Guitar del Mar. He also plays with hard rock band Lowered Expectations. Main influences are Dick Dale, The Astronauts, Los Straitjackets and the television show Sea Hunt.

Sarah Walsh sings, plays bass, guitar, drums and is the song writer of the band. Sarah also plays in several other bands including the rock band The Heretics and has recorded solo albums under the name earth immigrant. Her influences are The Beatles, Paul McCartney, The Bee Gees and Tom Petty.

Steve Mikkelson plays drums and assorted percussion.Steve was raised in southern California, which led to an appreciation of surf music and beach party movies. He began playing drums in high school marching band, which is an excellent discipline for learning how to tie your shoes correctly and play music while walking in a straight line. He went on to study other styles of music that do not require one to walk or wear shoes at all. This led to a brief stint in a rock band that played a lot of music by famous groups that were named after animals. After a long, mind-numbing career with the telephone company, he searched high and low for another opportunity to lay down a groove with other fine folks with a deep love of music. So, when surf music and The Sea Hunters came calling, he knew it was a match made in heaven. Steve can also be seen bashing away behind the Ventura classic rock band, “Mid Life Crisis” and the blues band “Heart of Blues”. Keep it real, kids. Surf’s up!
